Web and Email Servers As independent consultants, we are able to supply and support a range of Web and Mail Servers based upon the budget and the business requirements. The Options:
Microsoft Exchange solution dictates the use of the Microsoft operating systems and benefit by the management from a single console Microsoft Active Directory. User counts and licenses are charge on a per user or per server licence. Additional licenses must be purchased as the number of users expand. Firewalls are also available as additional modules.
The Novell Groupwise product can be mounted on almost any platform (commonly Novell Netware and SuSE Linux) but again licensing is use related. The use of the Novell i-directory enable cross platform maintenance from a single maintenance console. This is a unique tool and very powerful for multi-server/ multi-platform users.
In contrast, the Inty Exoserver provides all the features of the Microsoft and Novell mail and web servers, but on a per server license base, giving up to approximately 100 users maximum for the same base cost of the minimum 5 user Microsoft or Novell solution. This unit is Unix/Linux based and a purpose designed as a Mail and Web server appliance. It is fully featured with built in security, Firewall and Intranet, but only limited file and print provision available. This solution provides a real cost effective solution ideal for providing a self contained solution independent from application and database servers. |
